There are as many stem cell types in the human body as there are kinds of fish in the sea. Each of them has their use in regenerative medicine, but the stem cell types we primarily use to treat our patients are pluripotent stem cells, multipotent stem cells, and platelet rich plasma.
These stem cell types have unique properties, but all can be harnessed from your body to speed healing and restore tissue. Here's how they each work.
Pluripotent stem cells are the most flexible form of stem cells, capable of differentiating into one of the three layers of the human body: ectoderm, or the skin and central nervous system, endoderm, stomach and respiratory tracts as well as a number of organs, and mesoderm, cartilage, bones and the circulatory system.
There are a number of different pluripotent stem cell types, including embryonic stem cells as well as induced pluripotent stem cells, which are adult stem cells artificially forced into a pluripotent state.
Multipotent adult stem cells possess the capacity to differentiate themselves into different types of specialized cells after cell division in an organ or tissue. Multipotent adult stem cells are the most common stem cell types and are found in bone marrow, cord blood and the testicles. Though dynamic, multipotent adult stem cells are more limited in application than pluripotent stem cells.
Platelet rich plasma, or PRP, is the concentration of platelet proteins within blood that cause clotting that are separated from red blood cells within a centrifuge in order to speed healing. PRP therapies are powerful tools for treating chronic joint pain like tendinitis and arthritis through localized injections.
At RegenerVate, we administer PRP injections using the patient's own blood, so there are no questions about donor compatibilities or any substances added to the blood. Rest assured, using platelet rich plasma is a wholly natural approach.
Whether you suffer from chronic joint pain brought on by arthritis, or a bad muscle tear from strenuous physical activity, we can access the stem cell types needed to bring on swift relief and healing. Contact RegenerVate today for the GTA's top regenerative medicine.
